people want to strip me down
and take away my words,
as if painting thoughts in the mind
were horrible and a banal substitution !
why does it matter
if it's been used before ?
similar points use similar words;
last I looked love is love as it was before –
I can only hope to coat it
with fresh paint and make it my own,
to give love its immortal truths
and push its boundaries –
I must dismiss your thoughts to know my own
if I am to continue my passions

This is a really great piece. There's a lot of personal emotion here, and as a writer I can connect and understand what you're saying here, but I also think you've done a good job, once again of simplifying the poem to keep it accessible to other readers.
