sunken eyes stare at me
with a cold burn, oozing fear
dropping me to my knees
under frightened weight –
he won't leave me alone!
words whirling from his mouth
telling me unbearable truths
conjuring me from all that I've ever known
opening my cracked walls to new realities
that would shatter another !
were I a stronger man,
I could remain in the dark
allowing the lies to consume me,
but this ghost breaks through my memories
rendering them most foully false –
I am no longer myself
for the fear he's injected
has taken me ever

well done. I think you put fear in a very good perspective here. But let me ask you something. "were I a stronger man I could remain in the dark". Why would that be strength? It takes more courage to face the inevitable thruth then to hide from it you know. I think this poem demenstrates unintentional strenth, facing the fear that has taken form into... a ghost? I did interpret it that right, right?
